Marcia (Taylor) Dilling (BS ’61, Chemistry) and Wendell Dilling (PhD ’62, Chemistry), Midland, MI, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Marcia received the Reece Endeavor Service Award for many years of volunteering as the photographer for the nonprofit’s annual GardenWalk fundraiser. Wendell received the Midland Section of the American Chemical Society Science Education Volunteer Award for many years of service to Central Michigan University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, among other volunteer education activities. He was also recognized as a 60-year member of the American Chemical Society.

Valerie (Dziubek) Kuck (MS ’65, Chemistry), Poway, CA, was named the winner of the Francis P. Garvan-John M. Olin Medal from the American Chemical Society for her pioneering research on coatings for optical fibers and copper wire and for transformative achievements leading to a more diverse and inclusive chemical profession.

Thomas Myers (BS ’63, Biological Sciences), New Albany, IN, retired from his family dental practice in 2015. He is also a retired captain in the U.S. Navy Reserve Dental Corps.


Henry Foley (MS ’79, Chemistry), Manhasset, NY, was installed as the fourth president of the New York Institute of Technology.


Allan Robert Moser (PhD ’80, Physics), Swarthmore, PA, is a visiting associate professor of engineering at Swarthmore College.


Basilio Lopez Jr. (BS ’90, Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences), Lowell, MA, became manager of product sciences in February 2018 at Weather Analytics LLC in Dover, NH, where he ensures and encourages customer engagement with the company’s risk assessment and analysis products. Prior to this, he spent five years teaching a STEM-based middle school course in Saugus, MA.

Sabrina Maxine Reed (BS ’93, Chemistry), East Chicago, IN, was named 2017 Optometrist of the Year by the National Optometric Association, whose mission is to advance the visual health of minority populations. She serves as the director of clinical quality at Lawndale Christian Health Center and is an adjunct faculty member of the Illinois College of Optometry and the Indiana University School of Optometry.


Dr. Andrew Dec (BS ‘05 Biological Sciences), Columbus, IN, has finished his medical training. He received an MS in Biomedical Science from Barry University in Miami Shores, FL, and a medical degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He completed an anesthesiology residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, and he completed an Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at the Henry Ford Medical Center in Detroit, MI. He has begun working as a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain management physician.

Trevor Haney (BS ’08, Physics), Saint Paul, MN, joined Westman, Champlin & Koehler, an intellectual property law firm. He previously served as a law clerk for the company.


Aditya Kulkarni (PhD ’12, Chemistry), Bangalore, India, is the co-founder and chief scientific officer of Oraxion Therapeutics. The company has entered into an agreement with a U.S.-based pharmaceutical company to license its compound ORX-301 for the treatment of Niemann-Pick disease type C and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.
