Drug Discovery in Infectious Disease

The primary mission of this multidisciplinary training program is the training of well-qualified PhD scientists for productive and sustainable careers in research. The  training program includes 21 faculty studying pathogens and how they interface with the host. Faculty come from a number of departments across different colleges at Purdue University with diverse research interests in infectious disease and membranes including research areas such as drug discovery, drug delivery, and structural biology.

Opening Available (12/4/20 Update) - We received good news today that one of our NIAID T32 fellows received a NIH F31 award.  Not only is this great news for the trainee, but great news for the “Drug Discovery in Infectious Disease Training Program.”  1) Submitting a NIH F31 is one of the milestones for our trainees and 2) we can now award another T32 slot to a Domestic/Permanent resident graduate student.

Thus, we are immediately seeking nominations for this open T32 slot.  Our criteria are the same as before and can be found in detail in this T32_Slot.

A few important notes:

1) Student must have already passed their respective dept/program candidacy exam

2) Student must be a domestic student or permanent resident

3) Preference will be given to a trainee from a lab not currently having a T32 slot

4) Since the award can happen quickly, we request nominations by Thursday

5) If student is slated to TA in the spring semester, this could be an issue unless they can get out of the appointment.

Please let your trainees know about this opportunity and strongly consider nominating a student!! These nominations are due December 10, 2020 at 5:00 pm.
