New grads brave cold, look to warm future careers

Students march to Elliott Hall in freezing winter weather.

On a frigid Dec. 15 afternoon, 167 College of Science seniors proudly received their diplomas. The young men and women – soon to be scientists, scholars, academics and professionals – braved several inches of snow and temperatures in the teens to complete their Purdue journeys.

Before the ceremony, many of those seniors and their families attended a reception in Stewart Center for food, fellowship and a chance for students to congratulate each other in warmth and comfort. It was the last time these students assembled before walking to Elliott Hall of Music to receive their diplomas.

Many at the reception talked about jobs they already have or graduate schools they are considering.

Whatever direction they choose, the College of Science is proud of their time at Purdue and hopes they stay connected through alumni events and activities.
