Jianxi Su

Jianxi Su, PhD, FSA, is the Director of the Actuarial Science Program and an Associate Professor of Statistics. His research expertise spans mathematics and statistical modeling with diverse applications in insurance. Over the past several years, he has successfully completed numerous research projects sponsored by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS).

Dan Rubin

Dan Rubin

Dan Rubin, FSA, serves as the Associate Director of the Actuarial Science Program and a Continuing Lecturer of Actuarial Science. After graduating from Purdue with a BS Degree in Actuarial Science in 1988, he spent over 30 years at Nationwide, where he held various upper management roles. Mr. Rubin returned to Purdue with a commitment to equip the next generation of actuaries with a profound professional skillset, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the industry.

Shaun Ponder

Shaun Ponder

Shaun Ponder is the Senior Administrative Assistant in the Actuarial Science Program. Her professional administrative support has been a critical component in ensuring the efficient operations of the Actuarial Science Program.

Haibo Liu

Haibo Liu

Haibo Liu, PhD, FSA, is an Assistant Professor of Actuarial Science. His current research interests include pricing in incomplete markets, insurance-linked securities, credit risk, and ESG investing.

Christian Noack

Christian Noack

Christian Noack, PhD, is a Lecturer of Actuarial Science. He holds a PhD in Probability from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Before joining Purdue in 2022, he held research and teaching positions at Cornell University and the University of California – Berkeley. He is currently pursuing a credential from the CAS.

Sally Ray

Sally Ray

Sally Ray, FSA, EA, is a Lecturer of Actuarial Science. She holds a BS Degree in Actuarial Science from Purdue University. Prior to joining Purdue in 2020, she worked at Nyhart as a pension consultant for 7 years. Sally is a recipient of the 2024 SPIRA Award for outstanding contributions to mathematics education at Purdue.

Mengyi Xu

Mengyi Xu

Mengyi Xu, PhD, FSA, FIAA, is an Assistant Professor of Actuarial Science. Her research focuses on addressing the financial and economic challenges of population aging, with interests in modeling mortality and morbidity, personalizing retirement products, and innovating pension fund management.
