Two Semester Advising Policy

First-year College of Science students and CODO/Transfer students

An incoming student who states they will not pursue a Science degree plan during STAR or their first advising and registration appointment will have two (2) semesters to CODO to the college of their choice. The College of Science will provide the first fall, spring and second fall PIN so there is ample time to CODO after a student's first or second semester. CODO/Transfer students will be afforded the same three PIN privilege to assist in a successful CODO to a new degree program. Students will be required to CODO to the College of Liberal Arts or another college/school if they are unsuccessful in qualifying for their program of choice at the end of the two-semester period.

Fourth Semester Policy

College of Science students who pursue a non-CoS degree after their first semester will have four semesters in the CoS to successfully CODO to the college/school of their choice. The four-semester policy clock starts with the first semester of enrollment in the College of Science. For example, a student is in their second semester in Science and chooses to pursue coursework for a non-Science degree plan. The student now has two semesters to CODO to their intended program of study.

College of Science 5th Semester Registration Permission for Undesignated Students

CoS students who have yet to successfully CODO to a new degree program under the Fourth Semester Policy may request 5th-semester registration permission if they are making appropriate progress towards their intended degree plan and will meet CODO requirements during the subsequent semester. Consideration under this policy is given to students who complete the 5th-semester form and FORM 23 with an advisor from the school/college into which the student plans to CODO.

The above exception will be considered if the advisor of the college/school into which the student hopes to CODO confirms the student will likely meet the necessary GPA and course requirements to CODO at the end of the subsequent semester. Should the proposed CODO not occur, no further registration privileges will be allowed for the student within the College of Science. In this case, students must CODO to another college pending approval to enter their program of choice.
