Dennis H. Sorge directed the Purdue School of Science Outreach Program designed to enhance K-12 math and science education. He was an advisor on mathematics education for the State of Indiana Department of Education and is past-president of the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Sorge has worked and published in the area of mathematics education for 42 years and in computer applications for 30 years. Sorge was also director of academic services for the Purdue College of Science.

In the beginning of the Science Outreach program, Sorge also acted as the outreach coordinator for the Department of Education on mathematics, testing and standards writing and integration. He has been a high school teacher of mathematics and science, an evaluation specialist, and a consultant in evaluation and in staff development. Sorge has published over 25 papers and made over a hundred presentations in the areas of mathematics education, computer applications and professional staff development.
