College of Science Web Style Guide

The World Wide Web is a primary resource for audiences seeking information about Purdue University. Web page standards will help present the Purdue University identity clearly, consistently, and with distinction.

The Web standards contain required elements to ensure a consistent brand identity. The standards do allow each unit to customize pages with graphics and content that will express unique qualities and strengths.

Sizes

The Purdue signature should be displayed according to the graphic design standards identified in this manual. No other mark or logo should be placed in direct relationship with the signature unless used in accordance with the guidelines specified here. The recommended dimensions of the Purdue signature are 143 x 45 pixels. The minimum dimensions of the signature are 117 x 39 pixels.

Colors

The official colors of Purdue University are old gold and black and are as recognizable as the various graphic and brand marks that represent the University. Precise matching of the Purdue colors is essential in Web development. Gold should be represented by the hexadecimal value of B1946C. Accent gold should be represented as the hexadecimal value of E0D5C5.

Web Typography

Verdana is the official Web typeface for use in paragraph copy. Italic and bold variations of the Verdana typeface may also be used except in identity applications, as specified in this manual. As a default, set the secondary typefaces as Arial and Helvetica.

University Seal, Secondary Marks, and Logos

The Purdue University seal should only be used for formal and high-profile Web sites. The Purdue seal, secondary marks, and logos should utilize the Purdue Web gold (B1946C), when necessary, and should not be altered in any way from their original design. Allow 30 pixels of space around the marks and logos.
