Together, we can more effectively educate K–12 students in science — the students who will be coming here and leading us to the next level of excellence.”

The goal: Partnering with alumni and other stakeholders in mutually beneficial relationships.

The result:

  • Developed the Center for Research and Engagement in Science and Mathematics Education (CRESME) with the College of Education.

The goal: Programs that promote scientific literacy.

The result:

  • Created “Science Journalism Laureates” program that brings leading science journalists to campus each year (right).
  • Launched the Science Kids Club.

The goal: Promote science interest, science literacy, and science education across Indiana and the nation by supporting and enhancing the school’s exemplary K–12 Outreach program.

The result:

  • Created long-term partnerships with two Indiana school districts to teach and measure learning outcomes.
  • Purdue named the managing partner of the Indiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (I-STEM) Resource Network.
  • Increased capacity of Science Express, which delivers research-grade equipment to schools in central Indiana.
