Barbara Clark receives YWCA Salute to Women Award

Barbara Clark, Director of the Science Diversity Office and Women In Science Programs, received one of seven Salute to Women Awards from the Greater Lafayette YWCA at a banquet on March 1. Salute to Women celebrates the successes and achievements of outstanding women and female teens in Greater Lafayette. Winners are selected each year based on their contributions in the community and excellence in their endeavors. Salute to Women started in 1974 as the result of a study on the status of women in the community. The study confirmed the need for increased recognition of women and the need to nurture an environment of opportunity and support. Over the years, more than 200 women have received Salute to Women or Woman of Promise awards. Barb is pictured here with Martha Chiscon (left), Professor Emerita and previous award recipient, and Chris Sahley (right), Professor of Biological Sciences and Associate Dean, who nominated Barb for the award.
