Billie Gunn, Team Leader for Toxicology Information Systems at Eli Lilly & Co., and Alan Welch, Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Students in the College of Science, presented the Lilly Purdue Alumni Scholarship to incoming Purdue freshman Katie Hausman at the East Central High School awards program in Sunman, IN on May 25. This is the fourteenth Lilly Purdue Alumni Scholarship to be awarded. It is funded by employees and retirees of Eli Lilly & Company who are College of Science alumni, and is awarded to one top incoming freshman per year who plans to major in biology, computer science, or chemistry. The scholarship funds all expenses for the recipient’s undergraduate career at Purdue.

Lilly Scholars who will continue their education in Science in the fall are Michael Peregrim, Fishers, IN, Henry Chou, Fishers, IN, and Shruthi Rajashekara, Carmel, IN. 2005 graduate Emma Doud from Wabash, IN, was honored as the graduating senior with the Lilly Purdue Alumni Scholarship at a dinner on April 28th. Emma was also selected as the student responder at the University Commencement ceremonies in May. She is currently traveling in China before a summer NSF internship in Thailand. Emma will begin a PhD program in Chemistry at Harvard in the fall.
