Alumni NewsFlorence Ashby (M.S. 1959, mathematics) retired after 40 years as a professor of mathematics at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. Dan Casciano (Ph.D. 1971, cell biology) recently retired as Director, National Center For Toxicological Research, Food and Drug Administration. He served as a research scientist and/or science admnistrator for 32 years prior to retirement. He is presently founder of Dan Casciano & Associates, Consultants in Toxicology and Cellular and Molecular Toxicology. Sally Diekelman (B.S. 2005, mathematics education) and Brian Heiwig were married on June 24, 2006 in West Lafayette at University Lutheran Church with the reception in the North Ballroom of PMU. They live in Naperville, IL. Dr. Paul Humphrey (B.S. 1939, Science) died on June 22 at age 88 in Terre Haute, IN, closing the chapter on a life that took him from the football fields and basketball courts of Garfield High School in Terre Haute, to Purdue University and the National Football League; from the U.S. Army, to the Indiana University School of Medicine; and back to his community where he was a respected physician, leader, husband and father. Rebecca J Maddox (BS 1996, biology) is a Project Scientist with Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. in Schaumburg, IL. Melissa C Metcalf (B.S. 1994, biology) announces her engagement to School of Technology alumn Isaac Crowe. They plan to marry in April 2007. Erkan Nane (Ph.D. 2006, mathematics) is a visiting assistant professor at Michigan State University. Fransiscus E Utama (Ph.D. 2004, biological sciences) is an instructor at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.
