Placement Exams:

What is the difference between the tests I do on the web (CRT, CSRT, ART) and the tests I take on campus (Advanced Credit Exams)?

The CRT, CSRT, and ART are placement exams that help link your background to the initial Math and CS classes.  No credit is given, but they help make sure that your first semester placements are accurate!

Advanced Credit Opportunities

We strongly recommend that you take advanced credit exams in appropriate areas to guide your placement in the correct first-year courses and to reward you with advanced credit toward graduation for information you already know. This credit can help you complete graduation requirements more quickly, give you the opportunity to take elective courses earlier, and probably save you money. Advanced credit can be established by Purdue Advanced Credit Examinations, the College-Level Examination Program, or the College Board Advanced Placement Program. Note that not all college level courses taken in high school and taught by high school teachers will be transferred to Purdue as college credits. Individual departments can provide more information.

AP - College Board Advanced Placement Program

The College Board Advanced Placement (AP) program allows students to establish college credit from tests taken at the completion of high school AP courses. Check the AP credit table to see the credit that you can receive, depending on the exam you take and your score.

Purdue Advanced Credit Examinations

The Purdue Advanced Credit Examinations are administered during Day on Campus and during Delayed Registration before the beginning of the fall semester. The exams, which are free of charge for you, are based directly on the Purdue courses offered in these areas. Advanced credit examinations are available for many science courses - including biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics - and for nonscience courses, such as foreign languages. There is no penalty for taking a test; that is, if you do not pass, the results are not recorded. (Calculators are permitted.)
