Meeting Your Advisor
Your academic advisor’s first priority is to place you in courses that will help you succeed at Purdue.
You will enroll in courses during a one-on-one meeting with your academic advisor, who will consider many factors, including high school coursework and grades, scores on standardized tests, and the results of Day on Campus placement tests.
Since mastery of basic algebra and trigonometry skills is essential to success in calculus, the results of your Calculus Readiness Test will determine your math placement. Your placement in mathematics will determine your placement in chemistry, physics, and computer sciences. If you have had high school calculus, we strongly recommend that you take the Purdue Advanced Credit Examination in calculus.
