Dean's Leadership Council
The Dean’s Leadership Council, the College of Science’s preeminent volunteer group, plays a key role in advancing the College by providing critical leadership and sage counsel and by helping the College acquire the intellectual and financial resources essential to its progress. The members of the Council assist the Dean in a number of important ways:
- Provide advice to the Dean, Department Heads, Center Directors, the faculty and staff on a variety of topics of current concern;
- Serve as ambassadors of the College among their professional associates and in their communities;
- Facilitate communication among the College’s constituents;
- Provide outside perspective to the College’s leaders;
- Assist the Dean in developing a set of projects in support of the College and a compelling case for their support; and
- Work to secure the private philanthropic support that is critical to achieving the College’s goals.
Signiificant past accomplishments include
- Design and rollout of Science Business Partners Program;
- Excellence in faculty hiring;
- Best practices for recruiting, mentoring, and retention;
- Development of DLC strategic plan;
- Marketing and branding study in preparation for the College's current strategic planning effort.
