Gaining Experience

Earning a degree is a valuable step in your career, but most employers, graduate schools, and professional schools are looking for people who have experience outside of the traditional classroom. Skills such as leadership, communication ability, critical thinking, and teamwork are often developed and enhanced through internships, participation in research, extracurricular leadership, work experience, study abroad, or cooperative education. These resources will help you explore some of the possibilities available.

For assistance in finding all types of internships or other professional summer experience, make an appointment with a career counselor in the Center for Career Opportunities - Science Division, Math 231, 494-1771.
