First-Year Scholarship Opportunities

Important Dates for Incoming Students

How to apply for Financial Aid

New Student Scholarship Process

Incoming College of Science students do not complete the Division of Financial Aid supplemental application. First-year scholarship awards are made by committee selection only; no application is required for consideration. If an application is required, qualified students will be contacted, via their Purdue email address, to complete the application process.

The College of Science awards a limited number of first-year scholarships and thus the scholarship process is highly selective. Students should, if competitive, consider completing the Continuing Student Scholarship application in their subsequent years in the College of Science.

Questions?

Questions about the College of Science scholarship process should be directed to scienceadvising@purdue.edu.

Financial Aid inquiries should be directed to the Division of Financial Aid. The Division of Financial will communicate scholarship awards in April through a student's Aid Letter of Eligibility. This information may be found in a student's MyPurdue financial tab.

University Admission Merit Scholarships

Purdue University awards most of its merit scholarships to qualified first-year students based on academic and supplemental information provided through the Common or Coalition Application process. Students with a completed admission application as of November 1, for the following academic year, are considered for University admission scholarships. A complete Common or Coalition application includes all required materials including high school transcript, essays, recommendations and application fee.

Students with incomplete applications as of November 1 or who apply for admission after this date are not eligible for Purdue's largest merit scholarship awards, the Trustee and Presidential scholarships. Students receiving a Trustee or Presidential scholarship will be notified after January 15.

Incoming international students are not eligible to receive Admission scholarships.

University Merit/Need-based Scholarships

Prospective students wishing to be considered for merit or need-based scholarships grants, loans, and work-study programs, through the Division of Financial Aid, should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)  for the following academic year. Applying by the deadline will maximize consideration for all federal, state and institutional funds.  Applications completed after this date may result in student ineligibility for certain types of financial aid.

Scholarship Universe

New students are highly encouraged to complete a profile in Scholarship Universe. Upon completion, eligibility for University and external scholarship opportunities is available, allowing students to apply for funding. Eligibility does not guarantee a scholarship award.
