Educational Background

Bachelor of Science in Mathematics/Computer Science, Psychology minor – Purdue University – 1971.

Work Background

Upon graduating from Purdue, I worked as a Computer Programmer from 1971-1975. I worked at the Crisis Center and Women's Center from 1975-1983. I took some time off to raise my children and do community volunteer work. During that time, I served an 8-year term on the West Lafayette Community School Board and was an Associate Faculty Member, teaching mathematics, at IVY Tech State College. Since 1994, I have been an academic advisor for computer science lower division students in the School of Science . In July 1997 I was also hired as the first Director of the Women in Science Programs (WISP). In addition to being the Director of WISP, in 2003 I was named the first Director of the Science Diversity Office. This office puts an umbrella over WISP and the Multicultural Science Programs.

Hobbies/Interests

I am very interested in women’s issues especially as they relate to women in science.

Goals

My goals are to help assist others with their personal growth while continuing my own.

Advice for Students

If each student continues to be flexible and optimistic while making the most of each day, their success will be a journey as well as a destination.
