Bachelor of Science Degree, Mathematics; 1977 - Purdue University

Master of Science Degree, Counseling and Student Personnel, 1980 - Purdue University

Work Background

After graduating from Purdue, I taught junior high math in Monticello , IN. I then moved on to teaching for the Department of Mathematics at Purdue while working on my Graduate degree. I joined Science Counseling in 1979 as a career counselor and an advisor for Computer Science students. In 1992, I was appointed Director of Counseling for the College of Science. I then served the College of Science as Assistant Dean from 2003-2006 before returning as Director of Academic Advising.

Hobbies/Interests

My main hobbies are playing volleyball and looking for ancestors. You'll find volleyball, along with all Purdue sports, will get me talking for quite a while. In addition to sports and genealogy (I have more than 11,000 names in my family database!) I enjoy some gardening and am very involved with a house church in Lafayette . I'm also a Fac Fellow at Earhart Hall, an Honorary for Tomahawk, a founding member of PACADA (Purdue Academic Advising Association), and have served on the leadership of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), including chairing the National Conference in October 2006.

Goals

I want to assist students in becoming fully functioning members of the Purdue and World communities.
